Theater Alliance presents the First Washington D.C. Planet Earth Arts New Play Festival with six short plays focused on the human relationship to the natural environment. Experience the energy and excitement of D.C. playwrights unleashing their imaginations inspired by the Anacostia River Watershed and its relationship to the historic African American community through which it flows.

Presented in collaboration with Stanford University’s National Center for New Plays & Planet Earth Arts, and in partnership with D.C.’s Department of Energy & Environment.

Video 4/14/2016: Word Becomes Flesh by Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Directed by Psalmayene 24

Through spoken word, dance, and visual imagery, an ensemble of performers delivers a series of letters from a single father to his unborn son, documenting the range of his emotions, fears, and expectations. Marc Bamuthi Joseph's Word Becomes Flesh, directed by Psalmayene 24, critically, lyrically, and choreographically examines masculinity and responsibility within the constructs of hip-hop culture. Free general admission tickets will be distributed in the States Gallery starting at approximately 5:30 p.m., up to two tickets per person.

Theater Alliance presents this play written by Iranian playwright held in isolation Nassim Soleimanpour, which involves audience volunteers and requires one actor who has never seen the script to impersonate characters, read, and ad lib the story of a rabbit that attends the circus without a ticket.
