The Apollo Orchestra

The Apollo Orchestra provides a platform for Washington D.C. area’s finest young professional musicians. Many of our players are recent graduates of major music schools from the metropolitan area and the nation, as well as from around the world. Joining forces with exciting accomplished opera singers and vibrant instrumental soloists, including many in the early stages of their international professional careers, The Apollo Orchestra offers dynamic interpretations of the major orchestral, opera, and concerto repertoire, as well as underperformed gems of all eras.

Under the baton of youthful conductor and music director Stephen Czarkowski, The Apollo Orchestra’s vision to provide a unique, educational, up-close live musical experience for our audiences and communities, through the magic of our exuberant symphony orchestra, all at an easy to access, informal venue has been realized through our concerts and meet-the-artists receptions, which are FREE, and open to the public.  The Apollo Orchestra is generously funded entirely by The Robert Downing Family Foundation, which allows us to maintain our free admission policy in hopes of drawing the widest possible audience.  The Apollo Orchestra is directed and administered by Robert Downing, President, Virginia Lum, Executive and Artistic Director, and Lynn Downing, Public Relations Director.
