The Piano Trio Rix

The Piano Trio RIX  is a part of Piano Quartet RIX  which was founded in 1993 when violist Ilze K?ava, cellist Reinis Birznieks and violinist Sandis Šteinbergs were students of the pianist and professor J?nis Ma?eckis in Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music. Four musicians soon developed a relationship based on musical ideas, interpretation and friendship. The Quartet has performed throughout Latvia, Scandinavia, Europe and USA.  In 2004 and in 2006 the ensemble received Latvia’s highest award in music -Grand Prix - in recognition of outstanding chamber music performances. Due to the full-time obligations in some of Europe’s leading orchestras musicians of Piano Quartet RIX  meet several times a year to prepare, perform and record various concert programs. A special aspect of this diverse chamber group is its repertoire which consists of works for solo, duo, trio and quintet ensembles.
