Fred Jonny Berg

Fred Jonny Berg (b.1973) lives in Saltdal, a valley north of the Arctic Circle. His production counts some 200 titles, including orchestral works, chamber music, electronic music and he is also a musician, director and songwriter. "For me, composing is more like an intense life style than it is an occupation. Music appealing to the feelings is always adequate," says Berg. Since his debut album in 1993, Berg has produced seven albums. Among these, Pictures before an Exhibition - an album resembling the soundtrack genre. It contains eight electroacoustic works, and the cut which carries the album - title, was originally commissioned for Festspillene in Bergen in 1997.

In 2000, his chamber music related album, Seasons of Life was released. On this album, flutist Tom Ottar Andreassen, violinist Håvard Daae Rognli and pianist Wolfgang Plagge contribute. Flute Sonata no.1 op.40, one of the works presented on this album, was warmly received. Glenn Franco, Gods of Music, said of the sonata, "Berg has given the world yet another timeless classic...and should be heralded for his tremendous effort and choice of musicians for this grand masterpiece."
