W.T. Woodson Select Vocal Ensemble



Biography

The W. T. Woodson High School Select Vocal Ensemble is one of six ensembles of the 250 member choral department at W.T. Woodson High School. The ensemble is an extra-curricular ensemble which rehearses one night per week and consists of 10th through 12th grade students. Each of the students in this ensemble also participates in one or more of the curricular ensembles. The ensemble has consistently received superior ratings at the Virginia Music Educators Association Choral Festival and national music festivals since the ensemble’s inception in 1991. The ensemble has premiered newly commissioned works, performed for the VMEA Convention, participated in festivals at the University of Delaware and the University of Maryland, and countless events for Fairfax County and in Washington D.C., including a Millennium Stage Performance in 2008. The ensemble was recently featured on the Washington Chorus’s Candlelight Concert singing on the Concert Hall Stages of the Kennedy Center and Strathmore Music Hall.
