Kinan Abou-Afach



Biography

Syrian cellist Kinan Abou-Afach is a graduate of the Arab Institute of Music and the High Institute of Music in Damascus, Syria. He attended DePaul University School of Music in Chicago where he received his Master's degree, studying with Stephen Balderston. Abou-Afach has performed as a soloist throughout the Middle East and Europe. He also has participated in master classes with Francoise Baduell, Federico Romano, Yo-Yo Ma, and members of Alban Berg Quartet. Since joining the Chicago Civic Orchestra, Abou-Afach has worked with William Eddins, Sir Andrew Davis, Roberto Abbado, and with soloists including Larry Combs, Alex Klein, and Pinchas Zukerman.
