Sara McDonald



Biography

Sara McDonald is a vocalist/composer/French hornist living in Brooklyn, New York. By the time she reached high school, she had already performed in over 30 musicals, and was the lead singer for her school’s premiere jazz ensemble. In the years that followed, Sara developed her musical skill set and went on to study at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. During the summer of 2013 alone, she performed in many internationally acclaimed festivals including the Montreal Jazz Festival, Northside Festival and the East Village Music Festival. In the fall of 2013, she headed to Munich, Germany where she recorded her first Big Band Record with the All Jazz Orchestra. After recording the album, she went back to play a tour with the orchestra.  She has performed live on Quebec Radio and has been a featured artist on WNYC Soundcheck’s Gig Alerts. In February of 2014, Sara received an  ASCAP Foundation Herb Albert Young Jazz Composer Award and the ASCAP Foundation Phoebe Jacobs Prize.
