Mira Yang



Biography

Dr. Mira Yang earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Catholic University of America and her Master of Music degree from Peabody Conservatory, and studied at Der Hochschule Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. She also attended the Altenburg Academy in Germany; Societa dei Concerti in Italy; AIMS in Graz, Austria; the Minnesota Opera Center (New Music Theatre Institute); Dicapo Opera Summer Program; and the Shaker Mountain Festival. Ms. Yang has performed in Europe and Asia, in addition to the Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall; San Francisco Concerti Orchestra; Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall; the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater; and the White House’s Christmas Concert. She worked with the Washington Opera  and the Washington Concert Opera, as well as with Pala Association for the musical theater repertoires. She has appeared in many leading roles with regional opera companies. Ms. Yang is the president of the Asian American Music Society, Inc. and the artistic director for the Bethesda Summer Music Festival. She also serves as the Students Voice Competition Chair for the Friday Morning Music Club and the Annual Asian American Music Society’s International Music Competition Chair. She has been an Adjunct Professor at American University and on the voice faculty at the Catholic University of America. Currently, she teaches at George Mason University and is a Community Advisory Board member for the Kennedy Center.
