Steve Olson

Biography

Credited with introducing skateboarding to punk rock in the late '70s along with being an original contributor to the Independent Truck Co (released in 1978), and whose iconic Santa Cruz Checkerboard model became the first use of full-board graphics on seven-ply laminated maple, Steve Olson became a World Champion slalom skater in 2000 and was inducted to the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2014. Based in Los Angeles, Olson is also an accomplished artist and sculptor with commissioned works that have been displayed in New York, Houston, and elsewhere. The scope of his influence over five decades of skateboarding is nearly impossible to overstate and almost equally impossible to summarize.
