The Chariots

Biography

The founding members of The Chariots (Zach, Amon, and Danny) were DC locals that shared a love of punk and hardcore music. While attending punk rock shows, they discovered an up-tempo Jamaican inspire music called ska. Bands like the Toasters, the Pietasters, and I Spy brought ska to American crowds in the '80s and '90s even though Jamaican ska has been around since the 1960s. The Chariots formed in 2004 to continue the tradition of a great American ska band capable of producing sounds worthy of the any Jamaican dance hall. The Chariots bring a touch of traditional ska blended with soulful punk edge. The Chariots lyrics range from the plight of being a rude boy (impoverished youth) in today's society to dark love songs. The Chariots have now been playing original DC ska for more than 10 years and continue to spread the worldly sounds of ska. The Chariots have played with The Slackers, King Django, H.R of the Bad Brains, and numerous others. There have been many former members and many former songs, but one thing is for sure: the Chariots will get you movin' all night long.
