Video 2/25/2016: Meena's Dream

In Meena’s Dream, Anu Yadav weaves a tale of nine-year-old Meena who wishes her mother could afford the medicine she needs, and Hindu God Lord Krishna who pleads for Meena’s help in his war against the Worry Machine. The play creates a magical world through storytelling and music, from South Indian classical to indie folk. Music is by Anjna Swaminathan, Rajna Swaminathan, and Sam McCormally.

Free general admission tickets will be distributed in the States Gallery starting at approximately 5:30 p.m., up to two tickets per person.

Video 9/21/2015: Panel Discussion: (All) Women's Voices: A Conversation About Intentionality and Inclusion

With an introduction by Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter, the panel will be moderated by Jennifer Nelson. Panelists include: Michelle Banks, Thembi Duncan, Paige Hernandez, Eric Swartz, Caleen Sinnette Jennings, and Anu Yadav. When you hear the word "woman", who first comes to mind? What does she look like? What does her family look like? Where is she from? Where does she live? Who does she love? What's important to her? What worries her? How often do you hear her story? Has she ever been asked to tell it? We invite the community to join theater professionals in a dialogue about making space for women's intersectional identities both onstage and behind the scenes.
