Biography

Pianist/composer Sam Post is not your typical classical performer. He weaves wit and commentary into his program of folk- and American-themed 20th and 21st century piano music, including his own original ragtime and pieces inspired by the “Star-Spangled Banner” and Ke$ha, among others. He has been praised in the Washington Post as a “pianist of drive and intelligence” (Tim Page) and “a mind most comfortable with lucid structure and textural contrast” (Joan Reinthaler). Among his numerous awards, in 2014 he won first prize at the Wonderlic Piano Competition and performed Bach’s Art of Fugue with fellow keyboard player Ralitza Patcheva as part of the Washington International Piano Series at Catholic University and Levine Presents.
