Nicholas Greer

Nicholas Greer joins the National Symphony Orchestra as an Assistant Librarian for the beginning of the 2015-2016 season.  He previously interned in the Utah Symphony and Opera library.

Nick is a music engraver and orchestrator with 15 years of experience.  He recently finished an edition of Arnold Schoenberg's Chamber Symphony No.2 for G. Schirmer, and in connection with Pierre Boulez, recently finished work on an edition of Maurice Ravel's Un Barque sur l'océan.  He is currently preparing improved editions of other music, including a piece by Stravinsky, and further pieces by Schoenberg.  Outside of the concert hall, Nick has worked as an orchestrator and copyist on hundreds of film and television projects, including recent work on the World of Warcraft video game franchise.

A Utah native, Nick began music by playing trumpet, which he did through college playing in various orchestras and ensembles.  He studied composition at Brigham Young University, earning a Bachelor of Music in Composition and completing coursework for a master's degree in the same.

Along with the NSO library and his work as an engraver and orchestrator, Nick tries to be a composer when he can.
