Xuejuan Dance Ensemble



Biography

The Xuejuan Dance Ensemble (XDE) was founded in 2009 by Xuejuan Feng. The mission of this not-for-profit dance troupe is to provide education and performance opportunities in the art of Chinese folk and classical dance. Since its inception, the ensemble has welcomed amateur, pre-professional, and professional dancers of different ages and backgrounds. Both the children’s and the adult’s programs at XDE receive training in technique and repertoire from professional educators and are given exceptional performance opportunities in a variety of venues. In recent years, the Xuejuan Dance Ensemble has performed in the Annual World Dance Showcase of DC, the VelocityDC Festival, the Atlas Performance Center’s Intersections Dance Festival, and the 2014 Smithsonian Folklife Festival.

Xuejuan Dance Ensemble performs on the Millennium Stage. Formed in 2009, its mission is to bring together dancers and dance enthusiasts of different ages, backgrounds, and dance experiences, with a common interest in Chinese folk and classical dance. As a group, ensemble members study classical and folk techniques and learn iconic, award-winning repertoire, as well as original choreographic works in each dance style, including Tibetan, Mongolian, Dai, Miao, Yang Ge, Uygur, and Chinese classical dance.
