Biography

Matthew Ritchie is a visual artist who lives and works in New York City. His installations integrating painting, wall drawings, light boxes, performance, sculpture, and projections are investigations of the idea of information as explored through science, architecture, history and the dynamics of culture. His work has been exhibited internationally with recent solo exhibitions including "Remanence" at the ICA Boston (2014), "The Morning Line," a traveling architectural sound structure commissioned by Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary that toured to Seville, Istanbul, Vienna and the ZKM Karlsruhe, (2008-2014), and "Ghost Operator" at White Cube, London (2008). His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Albright Knox Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and numerous other institutions worldwide; including a permanent large-scale installation at MIT.
