Shannon Parsley


Shannon Parsley began her ballet training at the age of 6. She studied for several years in the Fort Worth School of Ballet under the direction of Paul Mejia and Victoria Fedine. At the age of 16, she joined the Fort Worth Dallas Ballet and performed principal and soloist roles including ballets by choreographer George Balanchine and Paul Mejia. At the invitation of Suzanne Farrell, Ms. Parsley appeared as a guest artist at the Kennedy Center in Suzanne Farrell Stages Balanchine.  Ms. Parsley joined Miami City Ballet in 1997 under the artistic direction of Edward Villella and was promoted to soloist in 2001. She danced a variety of principal and soloist roles including Balanchine's Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, Who Cares?, Concerto Barocco, Emeralds, Apollo, Divertimento No. 15, Agon, The Four Temperaments, Pas de Dix, Serenade, Raymonda Variations, Theme and Variations, Diamonds and Allegro Brilliante, choreographer Paul Taylor's Funny Papers, Company B and Arden Court, Sir Frederick Ashton's Les Patineurs, and Myrtha in Giselle.  Ms. Parsley returns for her second season with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet.
