Biography

Robert Blatt has been a member of the National Symphony Orchestra since 1968. An artist of considerable experience, Mr. Blatt played in both the Saint Louis and Baltimore symphonies before coming to Washington. He is also well known as an educator and has held posts on the faculty of Washington University of St. Louis, Shenandoah Conservatory, and George Washington University, where he played in the faculty trio. Mr. Blatt has performed in recitals throughout the Washington area. He was presented as soloist with the Mt. Vernon Chamber Players under the direction of Steve Brewster, and with the Beethoven Society Pops Series, and with the American International Touring Orchestra. Mr. Blatt serves his colleagues as vice-president of the Musician's Union and on the executive board of the Metropolitan Washington Council of the AFL-CIO.
