Adel Sanchez



Biography

Adel Sanchez was a full scholarship student at the Juilliard School of Music, where he studied with William Vacchiano, Màdame Réne Longée and James Chambers. He later studied with Adolph Herseth and Arnold Jacobs. Mr. Sanchez joined the National Symphony Orchestra in 1969 after completing a three-year stint as Principal Trumpet in the Kansas City Philharmonic. Mr. Sanchez has performed with the American Symphony under Leopold Stokowski, the New York Philharmonic under Leonard Bernstein, William Steinberg and Lorin Maazel, and plays the piccolo trumpet part in the Boston Symphony recording of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring under Michael Tilson Thomas. As soloist Mr. Sanchez has appeared with the National Symphony on many occasions, both here and abroad under such renowned conductors as Antal Doráti, Rafaél Drurian, Christopher Hogwood, Sir Neville Marriner, Howard Mitchell, Vittorio Negri, Mstislav Rostropovich, Alexander Schneider, Gerard Schwartz, Norman Scribner, and Michael Tilson Thomas. He has also toured the Far East with the Philharmonia Virtuosi of New York as their featured trumpet soloist under the direction of Richard Kaplan. Mr.Sanchez served on the faculty of The Catholic University of America from 1970-2006 and was Assistant to the Director of the American Youth Philharmonic from 1990-2006.
