Biography

Elvira Tarasova was born in St. Petersburg, graduated from Vaganova Ballet Academy in the class of Professor Inna Zubkovskaya, and joined the Mariinsky Theatre in 1988. She became First Soloist in 1996. Her roles include Sylphide in La Sylphide, Temperament/Diamond Fairy/ Little White Cat in The Sleeping Beauty, Pas de Trois/Masha in Nutcracker, Kitty in Anna Karenina, Myrtha in Giselle, Gold in The Legend of Love, Grand Pas Classique in Raymonda, Pas de Trois in Swan Lake, Nikiya/Gamzatti/Pas de Trois from the scene "Kingdom of Shades" in La Bayadere, Queen of Dryads, Kitri in Don Quixote, Gulnarah/ Medora/Pas de Trois in Le Corsaire, Fairy Doll in The Fairy Doll, Maria in The Fountain of Bakhchisarai, Juliet's Friend in Romeo and Juliet, soloist in Serenade, Rubies in Jewels, and Lescaut's Mistress in Manon. She has also danced in Chopiniana, Paquita Grand Pas, Diana and Actaeon, Pas de Deux from "Esmeralda," Walpurgis Night, and Symphony in C.
