Biography

Irina Zhelonkina was born in Tcheboksary and graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy in the class of Professor Natalie Dudinskaya in 1989. She joined the Mariinsky Theatre and became First Soloist in 1995. Her roles include Masha/Pas de Trois in The Nutcracker, Shyrin in The Legend of Love, Clemance/Pas de Trois from the scene "Kingdom of Shades", La Fee Violent/Princess Aurora in Sergeev's The Sleeping Beauty, Pas de Trois in Swan Lake, Queen of Dryads/Flower girl/Street dancer in Don Quixote, Juliet's Friend in Romeo and Juliet, Maria in The Fountain of Bakhchisarai, Sylphide in La Sylphide, Giselle/Peasant's Pas de Deux in Giselle, Mazurka /Valse in C Sharp minor/Valse in G flat major in Chopiniana, the Ballerina in Petrushka, Gulnarah/Pas de Trois in Le Corsaire, Polyhymnia in Apollo, The Fairy Doll in The Fairy Doll, Painting in Goya-Divertissement, and Lescaut's Mistress in Manon. Ms. Zhelonkina has also danced in Symphony in C, Raymonda, La Bayadere, "Paquita" Grand Pas, and Pas de Six "La Vivandiere".
