Kata Kozma


The 21-year-old pianist, vocalist, composer and arranger Kata Kozma was raised in Budapest, Hungary, and is currently studying at Berklee College of Music as a Performance/Professional Music dual major on a full scholarship.
Ms. Kozma has been singing and playing the piano since early childhood. The combination of her soulful and unique singing, edgy piano playing and refreshing arrangements has caught the attention of such artists as Grammy award0-winning producer George Duke, Alain Mallet, and George W. Russell Jr., among others. She has composed and recorded music for several TV and radio productions, short films and feature films. In 2009, Ms. Kozma formed a special jazz duo “Aubrey & Kata” with the 2009 Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition winner Aubrey Logan, which features Kata on piano and voice, and Aubrey on trombone and voice. Recently, Ms. Kozma scored the music to Lull, a feature film that is in the theaters this year. The young composer also worked with New York film director Bene Gauthier on a new film. Both of these collaborations earned places at the Cannes International Film Festival 2010, which made her the youngest Hungarian composer to earn places there. She is a recipient of the Thayer A.Pack Memorial Award, Mary Jane Earnhart Ellison Endowed Scholarship for Outstanding Musicianship, the Berklee Achievement Scholarship, and the Berklee International Grant in addition to winning first place at numerous music competitions in Europe.
