Iva Bartosova


Iva Bartošová (1987) has played the piano since she was five.  She was trained by a significant piano teacher Jaroslava Kotmelova. She successfully graduated the Brno conservatory in 2008 where she studied in the class of a Russian pianist Inna Aslamas for six years. As her graduation concert, she preformed the Concert for Piano and Orchestra Nr.2 F major by D. Shostakovich  with the Brno conservatory philharmonic orchestra. Currently, she continues with her studies at the University of Arts in Bratislava under prof. Ida Cernecká.

She has participated in various piano competitions where she ranked at leading places - e.g. National Music Competition Of Elementary Art Schools - 1st   place; National competition of piano music for four hands "Per quatro mani" - 2nd place; Piano competition "Prague Junior Note" - certificate of merit.   She received a "Prize for the best performance of a romantic composition" at the International Piano Competition in Munich, Germany.

Apart from playing solo piano music, she also performs chamber music (she ranked 2nd in the International Violin Competition in Nova Paka), music for four hands and compositions for piano and organ. She is often invited to perform at various concerts and festivals and opening ceremonies in her country as well as abroad (Germany, Denmark and Slovakia).  

She extends her art education by active participation at international master classes led by prestigious Czech and foreign teachers and pianists. Master classes Audaces fortuna iuvat Mikulov - Jirí Doležel, master classes of Janácek´s Academy of Music in Brno - Jirí Skovajsa, Jan Jiraský, master classes Zlaté Hory - Antonín Kubálek, Ivo  Kahánek, master classes Týn nad Vltavou -  Pierre Jasmin (Canada), Avo Kouyoumdjian (Austria), Ivan Klánský.

Her repertoire includes compositions of the Baroque era (D.Scarlatti, J.S.Bach, G.F. Händel), classical composers (L. van Beethoven, J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart), romantics (F.Chopin, F.Liszt, R. Schumann, E.Grieg,S. Rachmaninov, B.Smetana, etc.),  as well as modern authors (C.Debussy, M.Ravel, S. Prokofjev, A. Chatschaturjan, D. Kabalevskij, D.Schostakowitch, V. Novák, L. Fišer, A. Tucapsky). She has also premiered compositions of contemporary Brno composers. 

In September 2010, she will making her American concert debut.
