Csilla Boross


Hungarian soprano Csilla Boross makes her WNO debut in this production. She recently performed the role at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma with Riccardo Muti, in a gala performance which was televised live throughout Europe to celebrate Italy's 150th anniversary. Last season, she debuted at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste as Violetta in La traviata and made her U.S. debut as Abigaille in Nabucco with Palm Beach Opera. She has been heard at the National Theater of Prague as Fiordiligi, Elettra, and Donna Anna and at the Janá?ek Theater Brno in new productions of Eugene Onegin (Tatiana), Aida, Madama Butterfly (Cio-Cio San), and Macbeth (Lady Macbeth), as well as revivals of Nabucco, La traviata (Violetta) and Tosca. Other performances include a new production of Aida in Brno, Tosca in Smetana's Litomysl International Opera Festival, Mimì in La bohème at the Gut Immling Opera Festival, Manon Lescaut at the Opera National de Montpellier (directed by Jean-Paul Scarpitta), Tosca at the Terme di Caracalla in Rome, and Lady Macbeth at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma with Riccardo Muti. She has been a soloist and member of the National Theater (Janá?ek Theater) in Brno, a soloist with the Hungarian State Opera, and a regular guest of the National Theater of Prague. She is the 2009 recipient of Czech Television's THALIA Prize for her appearance in Brno in Madama Butterfly.
