Rosie Shipley

Biography

Rosie Shipley, a native of Baltimore, has been playing the violin since she was three years old. She learned her first Irish tunes at the age of eight from master fiddler Brendan Mulvihill. As a teenager, Ms. Shipley attended the Gaelic College of Celtic Arts and Crafts on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, where she became well versed in Cape Breton-style fiddling. Ms. Shipley tours internationally with Irish singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Gerry O'Beirne and has appeared as a guest fiddler with the Celtic/Early Music group Ensemble Galilei and the Irish-American band Cherish the Ladies.  Well Kept Secrets, Ms. Shipley’s duo recording with singer Lisa Moscatiello, was praised by critics.  Ms. Shipley’s most recent recording is Yesterday I Saw the Earth Beautiful, a collaboration with Gerry O'Beirne.
