Saw Lady


Natalia Paruz has delighted audiences the world over with her unique sonic and visual on such acclaimed television programs as Fox After Breakfast, The Vicki Lawrence Show, Oddville MTV, Good Morning America, Good Day New York, Tool Box (History Channel), Over the Edge CBS and Biggers & Summers on the Lifetime channel.

Radio audiences have become acquainted with her angelic singing saw through her repeated broadcasts on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion, WBAI 99.5FM, XM Satellite Radio, WPKN 89.5FM and WFMU 91.1FM.

Ms. Paruz's talent for playing classical, ragtime, and show-tunes on 'strange' instruments has sparked great public interest in her revival of vaudeville-style acts. She has performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Zubin Mehta, with the Westchester Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by maestro Paul Dunkel, the Royal Air Moroccan Symphony Orchestra, at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall with both PDQ Bach composer Peter Schickele, and with the Little Orchestra Society conducted by maestro Dino Anagnost, and at festivals such as the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, the Utah Arts Festival, the World Trade Center's Buskers Fair, Queens Farm Museum Agricultural Fair, Ecofest NY, and Harmony Day. Ms. Parus- was chosen to open the official Liberty Bell ceremony in Philadelphia when the American symbol was moved to its new home.

Other performances include the Museum of the City of New York, the Coney Island Museum, numerous performances at the Rainbow Room, and concerts around New York, Connecticut, Israel, and France. Ms. Paruz's saw playing won her a medal of honor from the mayor of the Maisons-Alfort region in Paris, France, a citation of honor from the New York City Council, and was chosen by both Time Out Magazine and the Village Voice for their 'Best of New York' lists.

Ms. Paruz was chosen to be a judge at the International Musical Saw Competition in Paris, France. She has recorded on Capitol Records, Universal Records, and Atlantic Records with such artists as John Hiatt. Her musical saw can be heard on television commercials for many products, including Volvo, Motorola, Optimum-on-line, and California cheese. She can be seen in the movie Dummy with Oscar-winner Adrian Brody, and be heard on soundtracks of movies such as El Carnaval Sodoma and American Carny.
