Doonya is a U.S. dance school and fitness company that strives to create a world of health and happiness through the exuberance of Bollywood dance. Established in Washington D.C. in 2005, co-founders Kajal Desai and Priya Pandya pioneered a technique-driven curriculum around Bollywood and contemporary South Asian dance. With headquarters in New York and now Los Angeles, Doonya instructors have taught thousands of adults, children, and teenagers at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. Doonya dancers have appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, the Today Show, Dr. Oz, and The CBS Early Show. In February 2013, the company released its first DVD, Doonya: The Bollywood Workout, a three-disc set that became a top 10 seller on within its first week. The Doonya Dance Performance Company has performed throughout the Washington D.C. area at events such as the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Arts on Foot, the Youth AIDS Gala, and Fiesta Asia, during which Doonya choreographed a Bollywood flash mob.
