Edward Rumzis
**Temporary Position

Eddie Rumzis, originally from Vernon Hills, Illinois, joins the National Symphony Orchestra as Second Bassoon for the 2017–2018 season. While freelancing in the D.C. Metro area, he has performed with the National Philharmonic, Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, PostClassical Ensemble, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, Choral Arts Society of Washington, and Alexandria Symphony Orchestra. He is also a member of District5, a wind quintet that specializes in new transcriptions and contemporary music. Rumzis earned his bachelor’s degree at DePaul University and his master’s degree at the University of Maryland. His teachers include Bob Barris, Bill Buchman, and Sue Heineman.
