Sound Health - Music and the Mind

9/8/2018 at 6:00 PM

Let's discover all the magic, fun, and healing power of drumming TOGETHER! First, grab a drum-we'll have 200 percussion instruments onsite for audience members to borrow (limit one drum per person; first- come, first-served). Then take your place in the circle and join legendary Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart for this unforgettable experience in the Kennedy Center Grand Foyer, supported by Jonathan Murray of FunDrum Rhythm Circles. Following an introduction by neuroscientist Dr. John Iversen, Mickey will take center stage to guide the entire audience through call-and-response games, lively performances, and interactive demonstration. Staff will be on site for accessibility needs. Plus, everyone who gets a loaner instrument  for the performance can exchange it for a commemorative REMO® drum-yours to keep as a memento of this enlightening and unifying experience through music!

Presented as part of the Kennedy Center's second weekend of Sound Health: Music and the Mind.
