Celebrating the National Day of Romania – Duel of the Violins: Stradivari vs. Guarneri

This concert features a duel with two collection instruments. Liviu Prunaru is concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam and plays a 1694 Stradivarius Pachoud violin. A soloist of the Romanian Radio Orchestras and Choirs, Gabriel Croitoru performs on the Guarneri violin that previously belonged to composer George Enescu. The “arbiter” of the duel is pianist Horia Mihail.
The concert program displays an array of colorful sounds of musical fireworks by M. Moszkowski, P. de Sarasate, D. Sostakovici, B. Smetana, J. Raff, J. Hubay, H. Wieniawski, L. Beriot, A. Piazzolla, D. Sostakovici, and Grigoras Dinicu.

Presented in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York and the Embassy of Romania to the United States of America.
Free general admission tickets will be distributed in the Hall of States starting at approximately 5 p.m., up to two tickets per person.
