Since his debut in 2006 in the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Chilean tenor Giancarlo Monsalve is giving his signature to the opera world with the power of his "dark ringing" voice, and his believable interpretations. Thanks to his acting knowledge and his "Phisique du Role," Monsalve evolves perfectly into every character in his spinto tenor repertoire such as Tosca, Carmen, Cavalleria Rusticana, Un Ballo in Maschera, Luisa Miller, and Don Carlo.
Monsalve appeared as the leading tenor role in the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Arena di Verona, The Grand Theatre National Opera in Warsaw, Macerata Opera Festival, The Bavarian State Opera, Royal Opera House Muscat, Zurich Opera, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Regio di Torino, The Greek National Opera, Hannover State Opera, Teatre Principal de Palma de Majorca, l'Opera de Nice and many others around the world.
Monsalve studied under Lopez and Barrientos in his home country, in Italy with Mirella Freni and in Spain with Montserrat Caballe. He is currently studying with Nicola Martinucci and Gianfranco Cecchele.
In 2010 Monsalve was awarded with the title of Cultural Ambassador and received the Medal of his City "Valparaiso" from the UNESCO World Heritage.
