Adania Shibli


Adania Shibli was born in Palestine in 1974, and has had her narrative essays and short stories published from 1996. She was awarded the Young Writer's Award-Palestine, by the A. M. Qattan Foundation for her novel Masaas ("Touching," 2002), and Kulluna Ba'eed Bethat al Miqdar ‘an al Hub ("We Are All Equally Far From Love," 2004). Shibli's work has been translated into French, Italian, Hebrew, and Korean, and is included in the world literature anthology World Without Borders. In 2005, Shibli wrote the play The Error, which has been staged at the Tirstan Bates Theatre (London), New World Theatre (Amhurst), and Golden Threads (San Francisco).  She is currently completing her Ph.D. in media and cultural studies at the University of East London in London, and is a lecturer at the University of Nottingham in the School of Critical Theory and Cultural Studies. Shibli recently convened a symposium on Palestinian art for the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds.
