Biography

World class drummer, composer and educator Darrell Green has become one of the young leading masterful drummers of today. He is conversant in every genre from straight-ahead jazz to Latin and West African music. Green is known for his effortless, masterful technique and captivating rhythms that brings music to life, taking audiences on a spiritual journey. Born and raised in Oakland, California he developed a style rooted in the modern post-bop tradition, retaining elements of his gospel and classical lineage.

Darrell leads his own trio and quartet which has performed in Russia, Mexico and throughout the world. He has shared the stage with leading jazz artists including vibraphonist Stefon Harris, vocalist Faye Carol, saxophonist Red Holloway, trumpeter David Weiss, saxophonists Antoine Roney and Sherman Irby. Currently, Darrell tours with Charles Tolliver, Charenee Wade, Helen Sung, Cassandra Wilson, Pharoah Sanders, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Antoine Roney, Steve Turre, Wallace Roney, Amina Figarova, The Black Arts Collective, and Jeremy Pelt. Darrell is one of the most in-demand drummers in New York, Europe, and Japan.
