Abada-Capoeira DC

For the past ten years, Abada-Capoeira DC has been a leader in the promotion of capoeira in the DMV area, spreading, and supporting Brazilian arts and culture through the practice and showcase of capoeira and associated arts such as maculelê, samba de roda, frevo, jongo, côco de roda, puxada de rede and more, hoping to build a healthy and more closely connected Washington, DC-area community.

CAPOEIRA (pronounced ka-poo-eyh-rah) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art and self-defense discipline that brings together fighting techniques, acrobatics, dance, percussion, and songs, in a rhythmic dialogue of body, mind, and spirit. Capoeira is such an important art expression that it is part of the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
