Biography

Holly Hamilton, violinist, has been a member of the National Symphony Orchestra since 1978. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from The Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri at Kansas City where she studied with Tiberius Klausner. She also has a Master of Music degree from Yale University where she studied with Syoko Aki and the Tokyo Quartet. Before joining the NSO, Ms. Hamilton was a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. She has appeared as a soloist with both the NSO and the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra. In addition, she is an active recitalist and chamber musician. As a member of the Kennedy String Quartet, Ms. Hamilton performs throughout the greater Washington area, as well as nationally through the NSO American Residencies for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She is also actively involved in workshops and other educational activities during the Residencies. Ms. Hamilton currently teaches in the NSO's Youth Fellowship Program as well as in her home studio. She enjoys using her music to mentor and educate special-needs citizens.
