Biography

Kirk Henning (First Soloist), the second of six children, grew up in Momence, Illinois. At the age of 17, he began his ballet training in the west suburbs of Chicago at Faubourg School of Ballet with Watmora Casey and Avnun Yakubov. At the age of 19, Kirk joined Dayton Ballet and in 2004 joined Richmond Ballet. In 2006, Kirk became a member of The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, and in 2011 Kirk joined Jessica Lang Dance. During his career he has enjoyed performing a variety of works both classical and contemporary including the lead roles in Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Peter Pan, Hamlet, Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, Romeo and Juliet, Mozartiana, The Wanderer, and Apollo. Kirk received the 2003 Josie Award for individual excellence in the art of dance and the 2007 Movado Future Legends Award. Kirk married Valerie Tellmann-Henning last year and is excited to be dancing and performing with her in The Suzanne Farrell Ballet.
