Biography

Kirk Henning (First Soloist), began his ballet training at Faubourg School of Ballet in Chicago under the direction of Watmora Casey and Avnun Yakubov. At the age of 19 Kirk joined Dayton Ballet and four years later joined Richmond Ballet. Kirk has also danced with Jessica Lang Dance. During his career he has enjoyed performing a variety of works both contemporary and classical including lead roles in Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Peter Pan, Hamlet, Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, Romeo and Juliet, Mozartiana The Wanderer and Apollo. Kirk has received the Josie Award (2003) for individual excellence in the art of dance and as a member of The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, Mr. Henning was awarded a 2007 Movado Future Legends Award. Kirk is married to Valerie Tellmann-Henning and currently resides in Richmond Virginia. This is Kirk’s 10th season with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet.
