Steven Brown likes to tell stories. Sometimes he writes stories in articles, poems, and monographs. Other times he speaks stories. When he became an advocate of disability culture he quickly realized promoting people's stories worked best for what he wanted to convey. Author of the book Movie Stars and Sensuous Scars: Essays on the Journey from Disability Shame to Disability Pride, he's associate professor at the Center on Disability Studies at the University of Hawaii and cofounder of the Institute on Disability Culture. He's convinced not only that everyone has a story, but we also want to share our stories with others.
