William Newman, who lives in Washington, D.C., is best known for his large-scale public murals. Newman has exhibited widely in national and international group exhibitions and locally in group and solo shows. Stories about Newman and his work have appeared in the Washington Post, the New York Times, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, and Time magazine, as well as on national TV networks, including NBC, CBS, ABC, National Geographic, and Tech TV. Newman, who has multiple sclerosis, graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a bachelor of fine arts, then received his master of fine arts from the University of Maryland. He has been a professor at the Corcoran College of Art & Design since 1973.
