Patricia Racette (Manon Lescaut) last appeared with WNO in the title role in Tosca (2011). She has also been seen at WNO in Iphigénie en Tauride (2011), Peter Grimes (2009), and Jenufa (2007). Appearing regularly in all the great opera houses of the world including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Royal Opera House, Teatro alla Scala, Paris Opera, and the Bayerische Staatsoper, she has earned critical acclaim for her performances of the title roles in Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Jen?fa and Kátya Kabanová, all three lead soprano roles in Il trittico, Madame Lidoine in Dialogues des Carmélites, Nedda in Pagliacci, Marguerite in Faust, and Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes. Her recent performance of Madama Butterfly was one of the most successful broadcasts in the history of the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HDseries and was subsequently released on DVD. A supporter of new works, she has created the roles in several world premieres, including Leslie Crosbie in Paul Moravec’s The Letter at Santa Fe Opera, Roberta Alden in Tobias Picker’s An American Tragedy at the Metropolitan Opera, the title role in Tobias Picker’s Emmeline at Santa Fe Opera, and Love Simpson in Carlisle Floyd’s Cold Sassy Tree at Houston Grand Opera. She is excited to announce the release of her first solo cabaret album, titled Diva on Detour, produced by GPR Records and distributed by Naxos.
