Paolo Pecchioli



Biography

The Italian Bass began his career singing Don Tritemio in Il Filosofo di Campagna by G. B. Galuppi with the Settimana Musicale Senese in Siena, Italy and has since debuted more than 45 principal roles in theatres around the world.

Paolo has worked extensively with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Frizza, Nicola Luisotti, Paolo Olmi, Carlo Rizzi, Jonathan Webb, Daniele Callegari, Brad Cohen, Bruno Campanella,  Alan Curtis, Emmanuel Villaume and Romano Gandolfi, to name but a few.

On the operatic stage, Paolo has become an expert for the Rossini and Verdi repertoire and has sung it in theatres all around the world including Washington National Opera, Gran Teatro del Liceu Barcelona, Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Dallas Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Hanoi State Theatre, Opera Ireland, Grange Park Opera, Holland Park Opera, Teatro Verdi Busseto, Staatsoper Dresden, Teatro Gayarre Pamplona, and many more theatres in Italy including Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Torre del Lago Festival, Teato Regio Turino, Teatro Verdi, Trieste, Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa, Teatro Comunale Bologna, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and Teatro Verdi, Pisa.

Concerts highlights have included appearances at Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Auditorium di Milano, Münchener Rundfunkorchester, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano G. Verdi, Orchestra Toscanini di Parma, to name but a few.

He has recorded Alidoro in La Cenerentola for Sony with M° Carlo Rizzi and the M?nchner Rundfunk Orchester alongside Vesselina Kasarova. His other recordings include: a DVD of Cleopatra by Lauro Rossi (Cesare Ottaviano Augusto) directed by PierLuigi Pizzi, a DVD of Aida (Il Re) directed by Franco Zeffirelli and, the world premiere of Jazz Te Deum and Sacred Concert by jazz musician and composer Giorgio Gaslini.

Paolo studied with Nunzio Riggi and Mario Antonietti. He has also trained with artists such as Renata Scotto, Carlo Bergonzi, Elio Battaglia, Leo Nucci, Magda Olivero, Vincenzo Scalera, Robert Kettelson, and Giovanni Reggioli.
