Teddy Tahu Rhodes



Biography

New Zealand baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes last appeared with WNO as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte (2012). He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and subsequently with David Harper. For Opera Australia he has sung Dandini, Count Almaviva, Demetrius, Escamillo, Guglielmo, Belcore, Harlekin, Don Giovanni, and Billy Budd.  In North America he has sung with San Francisco Opera, Philadelphia Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, Washington National Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Dallas Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, and Santa Fe Opera. In Europe with Welsh National Opera; Scottish Opera; Bavarian State Opera; Chatelet Theatre, Paris; Hamburg Opera; Theater an der Wien; and Leipzig Opera. Teddy has recorded extensively. DVDs include The Little Prince for BBC television, and Peter Grimes (EMI) and Carmen (Deutsche Grammophon) from the Metropolitan Opera. His future engagements include Don Giovanni in Bordeaux, South Pacific for Opera Australia, and Stanley for the Lyric Opera of Chicago, as well as a return to The Metropolitan Opera.
