American tenor Jeffrey Gwaltney is in his second year of WNO's Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program. He made his mainstage debut with WNO as Normanno in this season's production of Lucia di Lammermoor. Mr. Gwaltney will return to WNO's mainstage to sing Abdallo in this season's Nabucco, and this summer he returns to the Glimmerglass Festival to cover and sing one performance as Radames in Aida. Mr. Gwaltney was also at Glimmerglass last summer, where he performed the role of Officer Snow in the world premiere of Jeanine Tesori's A Blizzard on Marblehead Neck, as well as Giasone in Cherubini's Medea. With WNO, Mr. Gwaltney was the rehearsal cover for Plácido Domingo in Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride, and performed as the First ArmedMan in Die Zauberflöte with the BaltimoreSymphony Orchestra. Other roles performed includeDon José in Carmen, Rodolfo in La bohéme,the title role in Les contes d'Hoffmann, andTuriddu in Cavalleria rusticana.
