American soprano Talise Trevigne made her WNO debut as Julie LaVerne in Show Boat (2013). A passionate supporter and clever interpreter of contemporary music, she was composer Jake Heggie’s choice for the pivotal role of Pip the cabin boy in his smash hit American opera Moby-Dick, which has already been seen in Dallas, San Diego, and San Francisco. The production will also appear on DVD and will be broadcast on PBS stations. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music with a master’s degree in music, she made her operatic debut under the direction of Julius Rudel as Violetta in La traviata and Despina in Don Giovanni at the Aspen Music Festival. Recent successes include Micaela in Carmen at San Diego Opera, Jemmy in Guillaume Tell, Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice at the Caramoor Festival, Gilda in Rigoletto at Tulsa Opera, and Mimì in La bohème at Opera Omaha. At Knoxville Opera, she appeared as Manon in Manon Lescaut, and returns as Olympia/ Antonia/Giulietta in Les Contes d’Hoffmann.
