For the past thirty years, productions by John Pascoe as director and/or designer have been seen at most of the major opera houses of the world. In the U.S.: The Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Washington, Dallas, Florida Grand, Palm Beach, & Spoleto Festival. In Canada: L'Opera de Quebec & Vancouver. In Italy: Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, Spoleto Festival, & in Britain: The Royal Opera House - Covent Garden, Welsh National & English National Opera.
In the book published in 2009 to celebrate his 40th anniversary - "Domingo- direttore orchestra", Plácido Domingo places him among the small handful of the greatest opera directors with whom he has worked and as being - "unforgettable".
In 2007, the DVD of his groundbreaking production of Vivaldi's Ercole Su'l Termodonte for Spoleto Festival Italy - was awarded "DVD of the Year" by the Italian critics.
Directing / designing projects in the recent seasons include: For San Francisco Opera - Lucrezia Borgia (with Renée Fleming,) for Dallas Opera - Don Giovanni, for Florida Grand Opera - both Don Giovanni & designs for Cyrano. To celebrate Gian Carlo Menotti's centenary he created for Spoleto Festival USA, The Medium. His productions created for the Washington National Opera of Puccini's Manon Lescaut and Mozart's Don Giovanni will be revived in the 2012-13 season at Kennedy Center, Fidelio at the Michigan Opera Theater and the production of Manon Lescaut was seen with Opera Company of Philadelphia at the historic Academy of Music.
Internationally regarded as a portrait painter, his recent portraits include that of "National champion horsewoman: hunter - jumper" - Architectural Digest's "Woman of the Year" - the designer/sculptor: Marsia Holzer, & that of Lise Lindstrom as Turandot - Warrior Princess.
