Biography

American baritone Bernie Yvon (Frank) makes his WNO debut with this production.  He appeared in the same role at Lyric Opera of Chicago, where he was also seen as Bogdanovich in The Merry Widow.  On Broadway, he played Harry Houdini in Ragtime and originated the role in the show’s first national tour, opening at Washington’s National Theatre.  Other touring credits include Max in Cabaret, Jason Green/Leatherman in The Producers (including the show’s Kennedy Center run), and understudy to Donny Osmond in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  In Chicago, he has received five Jeff Award nominations, the After Dark Award, and a Wilde Award nomination.  Favorite roles include Harold Hill in The Music Man, Lawrence in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Michael in I Do! I Do!, Elliot in The Goodbye Girl, Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, Horton in Seussical, Hysterium in Forum, and seven times in the Gene Kelly role in Singin’ in the Rain. He recently appeared as John Adams in 1776 at Asolo Repertory Theatre, a role he will reprise at American Conservatory Theater later this year.
