Just Tap

Just Tap is an electrifying, challenging, and excitingly rhythmic Washington, DC-based tap dance company dedicated to preserving the rich history of tap dance while educating and entertaining the world. Having trained under master tap dancers, Just Tap continues to further the art form by putting a refreshing view on tap dance by having fun with its musicality and encouraging its continued self -expressions.

Finalist in 2009 at the Dance Metro DC Awards for Emerging Group, Just Tap combines their knowledge of hip-hop, West African dance, salsa, and jazz with tap to create rhythms out of this world. In 2008, Just Tap began presenting its own choreography and has performed at the Kennedy Center; the Smithsonian presentation of African Roots, Global Reach; The Dayton Tap Project; Reginald F. Lewis Museum; ARTSCAPE; the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture tribute to Sandman Sims; and many arts festivals around the nation.

Just Tap creates innovative works that cross the intersections between tap dance and other art dance forms such as house and West African dance. The goal is to not only entertain, but challenge the audience's ear and their imagination.
