The National ISIS Strings Academy

Biography

The National ISIS Strings Academy, founded in 1995, is a specialist string chamber orchestra. It is a charitable trust. Its aims are to provide specialist, quality training for talented, young string players between the ages of 11 and 21, and to give them regular experience in the art of public performance.

The most outstanding aspect of the NISA experience is in the standard of coaching available to these young people - from a dedicated team of professional musicians with a lifetime's experience of chamber orchestra playing, three of whom are past principals of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

Sir Neville Marriner is NISA's principal patron. In July 2000, he conducted the orchestra's 5th Anniversary concert, which was sponsored by Quilter and Co Ltd. at St John Smith's Square, London.

Plans for 2001 include a concert at the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham in July followed by a second visit to Washington DC after an exciting and successful tour there in 1999.
