Nerissa and Katryna Nields

The Nields formed in the early ‘90s when Nerissa Nields, fresh out of Yale where she had founded the folk singing group, “Tangled Up in Blue,” teamed up with her sister Katryna and Katryna’s then-boyfriend, now-husband, David Nields to form an acoustic trio. By 1994 they had added the bass lines of David Chalfant, Nerissa’s husband, and drummer Dave Hower. As a band they have played Wolf Trap, the Newport Folk Festival, and folk and rock rooms across the United States and Canada. The band sold close to 100,000 records and became the darling of the Folk Festival Circuit. As an acoustic duo, Nerissa and Katryna Nields continue to handle opening slots for many high-profile artists such as Cry Cry Cry and Dar Williams. Their music is a blending of folk with rock ‘n’ roll, power pop, punk and hip-hop. Their first CD, “Play,” was released in the fall of 1998.
