Raggs & The All-Star Swing Society

Biography

Classic society elegance. Roof-raisin’ energy. Raggs & the All-Star Swing Society strikes a remarkable balance between the two. Led by renowned arranger/trombonist Scott Ragsdale. The Swing Society specializes in ‘30s and ‘40s Big Band Era dance music, from swing to Latin, old-school jazz to variety dance – all performed with verve and style.

Dressed to the nines in formal ‘40s attire, they conjure the likes of Louis Prima, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, they whisk you back to a time of champagne fountains, posh ballrooms, double-breasted tuxes, wing-tips, lace and crepe dresses and long silk gloves.

The Swing Society consists of five core members, plus an array of peripheral players, all from the Baltimore and D.C. area. They perform as a quintet, as a 12-member ensemble and everything in between. The Swing Society also includes the Ragg Dolls, this harmonic vocal trio belts out everything from Billie Holiday classics to the best of the Andrews Sisters.

Strike up the band, loosen up that bow-tie and get ready to jump, jive and wail. Raggs & The All-Star Swing Society will make sure you have a swinging good time – dancing is encouraged.
