Singers for All Seasons

Singers For All Seasons is a 40-voice community outreach chamber chorus associated with The Choral Arts Society of Washington. Its primary mission is to bring free performances of quality choral music to people who are disabled, hospitalized, elderly, incarcerated, economically disadvantaged, or otherwise isolated from the mainstream of cultural activities. Currently under the baton of Joseph Holt, the ensemble has performed in concerts throughout the metropolitan area for over twenty years at locations such as ChildrenÆs Hospital, MarthaÆs Table, Metropolitan Baptist Church, The Community for Creative Nonviolence, and Vinson Hall.

Music Director Joseph Holt enjoys a wide-ranging career as soloist, chamber musician, conductor, recording artist, and arranger. Dr. Holt is currently pianist with The United States Army Chorus, a Baldwin Concert Artist, and Associate Conductor/Pianist of The Choral Arts Society of Washington. As a pianist, he was a prizewinner in the Wolf Trap Brahms International Competition and the William C. Byrd Young Artists Competition. As a conductor, he has led the Filene Center Orchestra at Wolf Trap, The U. S. Army Orchestra, and has conducted and compiled the music for Prodigy, a childrenÆs play about Mozart for the Kennedy Center. His recent recordings include music from The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on Albany and Transcontinental Music Publications, works by contemporary composer Gardner Read on the Northeastern label, and accompanying the Army Chorus in concert. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree and the PerformerÆs Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music degree from Shenandoah University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Catholic University of America.

The Choral Arts Society of Washington, under the leadership of founder and conductor Norman Scribner, is one of the major symphonic choruses in the United States and a moving force in WashingtonÆs cultural scene. Since its opening in 1971, the group has presented its own season subscription series at the Kennedy Center, performing virtually all the standard repertoire as well as numerous world and Washington premieres and new works commissioned by the Society.

Developed during the 2000-2001 school year, the Partner Schools Select Choir brings top area choir students together. Under the direction of Joseph Holt, this is the choirÆs second public performance.
