Nejc Lavrencic is Slovenian pianist living between Ljubljana and Brussels (Belgium). Although he was attracted to the stage and interested in music from a very young age, he did not begin to play the piano until the age of fourteen. He began his piano studies at the Secondary school for Music and Ballet (SGBŠ) in Maribor in the class of prof. Tatjana Dvoršak.
Soon he became also protege of the pianists Marina Horak and Saša Gerželj-Donaldson. In the Slovenian Music Competition for Youth (TEMSIG 2005) Nejc received the 3rd prize in piano duo and in the 2006 International Piano Competition of the Conservatory Davorin Jenko in Belgrade, Serbia he received the 2nd prize as a soloist.
He has recorded for RTV Slovenia and played in concert halls like BOZAR – Palais des beaux-arts, Petit Palais in Paris, Union Hall in Maribor (Slovenia), Red Hall in Ljubljana (Slovenia), Belgrade Filharmony (Serbia), Mim – Music Instrument Museum in Brussels, Royal Conservatory in Brussels, Stainway & Sons Centre in Antwerp, Glazbeni zavod Zagreb (Croatia), Glazbena Matica Zagreb (Croatia), National Gallery in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and elsewhere.
From 2007 he studied under Aleksandar Madzar at the Koninkljik Conservatorium in Brussels (Belgium). In 2012 he finished his Master degree in the class of Jan Michiels. Currently he is finishing his 2nd Master degree in Chamber music. From 2011 till 2013 he received a scholarship of the Flemish Government.
In October 2011 Nejc was representing the “European Capital of Culture Maribor 2012.” By that occasion he performed in Brussels Slovenian music that was never before performed in Belgium. Nejc has been also awarded with the »Dr. Roman Klasinc« Award for special achievements and creativity.
From 2010-2013 he studied and specialized in Lied interpretation under Udo Reinemann and his guests (Peter Schreier, Julius Drake, Mitsuko Shirai, Hartmut Höll, Ursula Kryger, Konrad Richter, Helmut Deutsch, Christianne Stotijn, Jascha Nemtsov, Maria Bayo, Wolfgang Holzmair, Ann Murray, Michiel Tranchant, Jaroslav Mrazek, Joseph Breinl, David Selig and Markus Hadulla). Nejc is active as a solo pianist, chamber musician and interpret of songs for voice and piano. In 2011 he formed a duo with French soprano Juliette de Massy with whom he regularly performs and presents projects. He collaborates also with musicians like: Artur Rozek, Irena Preda, Soumaya Hallak, Magdalena Sas, Kaja Nowak and others.
